Procilon strengthens Commitment to EUDI Wallet Technology – Memorandum signed

Pressemitteilung – 17 December 2025

Leipzig, 17 December 2025 – Procilon announces that it has signed the Memorandum of Understanding initiated by Germany’s digital association Bitkom and the Federal Ministry for Digitalization and State Modernization (BMDS) to support the successful introduction of the EUDI Wallet. For several years, Procilon has been actively involved in developing this forward-looking technology. By signing the memorandum, the company has made clear its intention to further intensify and strategically expand its engagement in this area.

The EUDI Wallet (European Digital Identity Wallet) is a personal, highly secure smartphone app that serves as a digital wallet for identities and documents. It enables EU citizens to store official credentials—such as ID cards, driver’s licenses, or certificates—digitally and present them when needed. In addition, the wallet allows users to issue qualified electronic signatures (QES) to legally sign contracts or applications digitally. This makes the technology particularly attractive for the European private sector.

The standard for creating QES within EUDI Wallets is currently being developed by the international Cloud Signature Consortium (CSC). Procilon is represented in its Technical Committee by Thomas Pielczyk, Head of Product Management & Electronic Signature, who serves as Vice Chair.

Years ago, Procilon began preparing its own signature applications for this new standard. The company sees the EUDI Wallet as the future of identification and consent in digital signature processes and maintains close technical collaboration with relevant trust service and wallet providers.

To accelerate the rollout—scheduled to be available to all European citizens across borders by the end of 2026—the digital association Bitkom and the BMDS recently launched the “Memorandum of Understanding for the Successful Introduction of the EUDI Wallet.” More than 75 German companies, including Procilon, have already signed. In the coming weeks and months, wallet experts will meet with representatives from BMDS and SPRIND to discuss the current state of wallet development, planned activities, and concrete participation opportunities for businesses.

Markus Schuster, Head of Business Development at Procilon, will also be part of these discussions:
“In 2021, the European Commission introduced the eIDAS 2.0 regulation, laying the foundation for the EUDI Wallet. Since then, Procilon has repeatedly contributed to advancing this technology. We look forward to sharing our expertise and experience in the upcoming expert talks. We are convinced that this technology will deliver real added value to Europe’s economic landscape.”
